I downloaded the Trial Ace, unpacked it and got this message. I have absolutely no clue what to do next. Anyone who knows what I should do?

Have you searched for it on your pc or looked in the Ace install directory. Its in there when installed correctly.

Yes, it is not there. I unpack the zip file, click on the icon, and it sais rgss300.dll not found. It does not install when I click on rpgmakervxace.exe, just makes an icon in the map where i unpacked it.

Where did you download it from? Maybe its not a finished download? Hard to say.

Hmm, I think I found the problem. I haven't yet downloaded the trial. But after an extensive search I discovered that I cannot find it anywhere. Where can I download the trial?

Say what? You said you reinstalled it twice. Color me confused. You can download the trial at the official site. I know it is linked on the main site here.

Finally, well this solved my problem. Guess a little search wouldn't do any harm, apparently "RGSS300.dll was not found" didn't exist in the entirety that is Google.

Thanks Jasonicus!

I am having this problem as well.

I've downloaded the Japanese trial of VX Ace, which opens up just fine.

Then I downloaded the English translation patch, but when I attempt to open it I get the same ""No Rgss300.dll for you!" message.

Which makes me sad, because I'm not sure what that is (I'm guessing something with Ruby scripts), and I can't read Japanese.

Set your System Locale to Japanese, alternatively, try installing the game in a folder that doesn't have any Japanese in the directory path. I know that the Full Version has issues opening projects saved with Japanese titles if on a non-Japanese locale.

You shouldn't have to set your system locale to Japanese. Taking all defaults should work just fine. Try reinstalling it.

I'm going to try reinstalling it first. I think I put the items in separate folders *facepalm*

Thanks for the quick replies, folks!

Separate folders? That would do it.

I find with programs like this, taking defaults is your best bet. But, in VX and other makers I do pick and choose where they go. It really shouldn't matter but the EB makers can be flaky.

I think 2d Human's problem is that he didn't copy over the files from the English translation he downloaded onto the trial from the official site. Happened to me too; just place it over the existing files and try again.
